Overview
The K2 Base Camp Trek is widely regarded as the most unique and awe-inspiring trekking experience on Earth. Unlike commercial trekking routes elsewhere in the world, this journey leads into one of the last true wilderness regions, where the planet’s greatest mountains rise untouched and uncompromised.
Located in Pakistan’s Karakoram Range, the trek brings you face-to-face with K2 (8,611 m) — the second-highest mountain in the world and arguably the most difficult and majestic of all 8000-meter peaks. For decades, this trek has been the ultimate dream of serious trekkers, mountaineers, photographers, and explorers seeking authenticity rather than comfort.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Islamabad | Gateway to the Adventure
Arrive in Pakistan’s capital and meet the expedition team. After a full briefing, equipment check, and welcome dinner, the journey toward the Karakoram begins.

Day 2 – Fly to Skardu | First Glimpse of Giants
A spectacular flight to Skardu (weather permitting) offers aerial views of Nanga Parbat and endless snow-covered peaks. Afternoon at leisure to explore Skardu Bazaar.

Day 3 – Acclimatization & Preparation in Skardu
A full rest day for permit processing, gear checks, and short acclimatization walks. Optional visit to Kharpocho Fort or Upper Kachura Lake.

Day 4 – Jeep Journey to Askole | End of the Road
Drive through the scenic Shigar Valley to Askole, the last permanent village. From here, civilization ends and the wilderness begins.

Day 5 – Askole to Jhola | Entering the Wild
The trek begins along the Braldu River. The landscape feels vast and untouched, setting the tone for the expedition ahead.

Day 6 – Jhola to Paiju | Toward the Great Glaciers
The trail leads deeper into the Karakoram with the first views of Baltoro Glacier and surrounding peaks.

Day 7 – Paiju Rest Day | Acclimatization & Reflection
A crucial acclimatization day. Short hikes offer views of Trango Towers and Cathedral Peaks while the team prepares for glacier travel.

Day 8 – Paiju to Khoburtse | Onto the Baltoro Glacier
The expedition steps onto the mighty Baltoro Glacier. Terrain becomes rugged and dramatic as granite walls rise on all sides.

Day 9 – Khoburtse to Urdukas | The Balcony of the Karakoram
Urdukas offers one of the most scenic campsites on the trek, with unmatched views of Trango Towers and surrounding peaks.

Day 10 – Urdukas to Goro II | Into the Ice World
A full glacier walk with ever-expanding views of Gasherbrum IV and icy landscapes stretching endlessly ahead.

Day 11 – Goro II to Concordia | The Throne Room of the Mountain Gods
One of the greatest trekking days on Earth. Four 8000-meter peaks — K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I & II — appear together at Concordia.
Altitude: 4,700 m

Day 12 – Concordia Rest Day | Surrounded by Giants
A full day to acclimatize, photograph, and absorb the unmatched scenery of the Karakoram’s most famous amphitheater.

Day 13 – Concordia to Broad Peak Base Camp
Trek along the Godwin-Austen Glacier toward Broad Peak, passing massive ice formations and expedition camps.
Trek: 4–5 hours
Overnight: Camp
Day 14 – K2 Base Camp | Standing Beneath the Savage Mountain
The ultimate day. Trek to K2 Base Camp (5,150 m), standing beneath the towering south face of the world’s most feared mountain. Return to Concordia the same day.

Day 15 – Concordia to Goro II | Journey Back
Begin the return trek, retracing steps through the glacier with a new perspective.

Day 16 – Goro II to Khoburtse
Descending becomes easier as oxygen levels improve.

Day 17 – Khoburtse to Paiju
Return to greener landscapes after days in ice and rock.

Day 18 – Paiju to Jhola
Final long trekking day through familiar terrain.
Overnight: Camp
Day 19 – Jhola to Askole | Trek Complete
The trek officially ends back in Askole. Celebration with the local team.

Day 20 – Drive Back to Skardu
Jeep ride back to Skardu. Hot shower, rest, and celebration dinner.

Day 21 – Return to Islamabad
If all goes well with the weather, we will fly from Skardu to Islamabad (1 hour flight) in the morning.
If we started driving from Skardu to Islamabad the day before due to poor weather, this will be a travel day.
Arriving into Islamabad, we will head straight to our hotel to freshen up / chill for a few hours. Once everyone is ready, we head out for the night to enjoy the final team dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in town. This one is special!
